UMYBSL is happy to offer travel baseball and fall baseball and softball, in addition to our intramural program.
2023 Spring travel baseball tryouts will be in October and November 2022. Please see below and league emails for travel tryout details.
We hope to field teams for all of the age groups below, but the number of teams and the structure for each age group will be determined by tryout turnout.
8U - for kids who turn 8 between May 1, 2022 - April 30, 2023
9U - for kids who turn 9 between May 1, 2022 - April 30, 2023
10U - for kids who turn 10 between May 1, 2022 - April 30, 2023

Travel players must also participate on an intramural UMYBSL team within the appropriate division for the 2023 spring season
Intramural games are on Saturdays and travel games are on Sundays
The travel season is 7-8 weeks with approximately 9 games; plus at least one playoff game
Half of the games are home and half are away. Away games are often in central NJ, within a one-hour drive
In the past, spring travel teams had one practice /workout per week beginning in December or January at a local indoor facility. Indoor workouts offer professional instruction to enhance hitting and pitching skills. Individual team coaches will provide direction regarding plans for this winter.
During the spring, travel teams practice once or twice a week, at the discretion of the coaches. Travel players are expected to attend both spring travel practices and intramural practices.
Travel players cover the cost of playing on the team and the purchase of uniforms. More information on costs will be provided closer to the season.
UMYBSL makes every effort to balance the league’s guiding principles of inclusion and delivering a quality baseball experience to players and families with the practicalities of fielding and managing a competitive travel team. Travel teams will be selected at the discretion of the coaches and it is not a guarantee that all players who tryout will make a travel team.
